I feel the same way. I’m fourteen and I just started dance in February this year. At first, I felt like everyone was ahead of me obviously. Then after a while when I finally understood everything, the pace was so slow. I wanted to feel like a dancer. I didn’t just want to stand there doing tendus forever. My advice: give it time. I know, i’m impatient too, so i know exactly what you’re feeling. But finally, last dance class my teacher told us that she was so happy that we were finally getting it, and that now we can start getting into some more stuff. That day, we did pirouettes, leaps and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I believe that there is never a wrong time to start dancing. I thought that you had to start really young to be good but that’s really untrue! If you watch So You Think You Can Dance, two season ago, Sabra said that she started at 14. So seventeen may be a little older than the norm, but who says you have to be normal? don’t let anybody tell you that you’re too late to start getting really into dance because you’re not. Be patient and good luck:)
